2011 Fall Bazaar

2011 Fall Bazaar Saturday, October 22nd...

2011 ECW Bazaar A Huge Success!!

We couldn’t have asked for better weather on Saturday! The sun was shining, Celtic music was playing, the scent of cotton candy wafted through air and we had an amazing turnout for the Bazaar! I cannot say enough about how hard everyone worked to make it all happen. Thank you to everyone for your stew donations and special thanks to Margaret, Ryan and Randi for purchasing and preparing the remaining ingredients. John Evko served once again as our Stewmaster, leading the COS men who stirred all night, and provided what some are saying is the best batch of stew in years. JoAnn Henderson did a beautiful job with the silent auction. Chris Bowman, Barbara Harlow, and the rest of the kitchen helpers sold out of just about everything they had to offer. Betty Adie did a beautiful job displaying all of the incredible baked goods that were donated by our generous parishioners. Ryan, Margaret, Clara, Caroline and many other helpers set up another successful clothing sale in the basement. Thanks to Hannah Crew for helping get our vendors set up Saturday morning. We had 10 vendors this year, which I think is a record! The yard sale was so organized and nicely displayed. This was a tremendous task and required hours and hours of work. Many people worked on getting things organized and priced, but special thanks go to Ann Gladstone, Pam Hardy, Hannah Crew who were at church for days on end getting things ready. I know there were many more helpers too! Thanks to Pat Hardy for coordinating the quilt raffle and congratulations to our lucky winner, Dorothy Chewning! Thank you to the youth of COS for working hard at their face painting table. The designs got rather interesting toward the end of the day! Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday to help make this another hugely successful bazaar. Thank you to the exhausted ladies who stayed after and got the parish hall ready for the Bishop’s visit. As Herbert said, that was truly a miracle! If I did not mention your name, it is not because your contributions went unnoticed or unappreciated. It took everyone’s combined efforts to make it happen, and it really does amaze me how everyone comes together and works so hard for a common goal. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

As of this writing we have collected a total of $9,245.83. After paying our expenses, we ended up with a grand total of $8,530.84 in profits. These totals are about the same as last year’s, but I think there may be some money still trickling in, so we may still set a record yet! Thanks to Barbara Harlow, our Treasurer, for keeping track of all of our finances for us!

We will be meeting in the next few weeks to discuss possible disbursements of bazaar proceeds. As a reminder, some of our disbursements of last year’s proceeds were: wood splitter for our men’s wood ministry, new Orff instruments for our children’s music program, $3000 contribution to COS Building Fund, Shrinemont scholarships, several ECW Diocesan charities, local charities, etc.
